Dissolved oxygen levels are used to monitor the health and productivity of aquatic ecosystems. In this kit, students familiarize themselves with the Winkler method by examining the relationship between temperature and dissolved oxygen concentrations. Using local water samples to examine primary productivity at different water depths, students can then observe the beginning stages of eutrophication.

• Introduce dissolved oxygen, water quality measures, and eutrophication
• Understand and master the Winkler Method
• Analyze the relationship between light and primary productivity in marine ecosystems
• Assess the health of local waterways

Kit Includes:

Instructions, sodium iodide, sodium hydroxide, manganese sulfate, starch solution, sodium thiosulfate, nitrogen enrichment solution, phosphorous enrichment reagents, transfer pipets, microcentrifuge tubes, and 15 ml conical tubes.
