Molecular Weight Determination of Proteins (Agarose-based)

£96.50

£96.50

Introduce a simple method to determine protein subunit molecular weights using horizontal electrophoresis. Because the protein standards and "unknowns" are prestained, the separation of proteins can be observed during electrophoresis. Included in the experiment is EDVOTEK®´s formulation of protein grade agarose, which provides an alternative to the use of polyacrylamide gels.

• Learn about protein structure, synthesis, folding, and denaturation
• Analyze three proteins using SDS gel electrophoresis
• Graph against standard marker bands to calculate their molecular weights
• Specially formulated to work with horizontal electrophoresis equipment!

Instructions, pre-stained LyphoProtein™ gel marker, pre-stained LyphoProtein™ samples, practice gel loading solution, Protein Agarose™ powder, Tris-Glycine-SDS powdered buffer, Protein InstaStain®, transfer pipets, & 1 mL pipet

All You Need:

Horizontal electrophoresis apparatus, power supply, micropipette with tips, microwave oven or hot plate, 250 mL or 1 L flask, larger beaker, lab tape or markers, hot gloves, safety goggles and lab gloves, & distilled or deionized water. For Staining with Protein InstaStain® (optional): methanol, glacial acetic acid, small plastic tray or large weigh boat, plastic wrap, white light box (recommended), rocking platform, & pipet pump or bulb
